Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra's 2025 album of jazz standards, with guest vocals from Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Scarlett Johansson.
Still Blooming is the fourth album from Goldblum and his band, with the actor at the piano and hosting a string of famous friends. Ariana Grande sings "I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)," Cynthia Erivo takes "We'll Meet Again" and Scarlett Johansson joins him for "The Best Is Yet To Come."
Most actors pick up a hobby between films. Jeff Goldblum picked up a band, and for years he has played jazz piano with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra in Los Angeles. Still Blooming arrived on Decca in April 2025, the day after the band played the London Palladium, with Goldblum hosting and playing piano throughout.
The songs come from the golden age of Broadway and the Great American Songbook. Goldblum's Wicked co-stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo turn up on "I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)" and "We'll Meet Again," Scarlett Johansson brings a smoky charm to "The Best Is Yet To Come," and Maiya Sykes lends her voice to "Stella By Starlight." In between, the band gets to swing on Monk's "Bye-Ya" and Bud Powell's "Bouncing With Bud," and Goldblum takes the closing "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" himself.
It's a warm, unfussy record, made by a man who plainly loves this music. Ian Malcolm once told us life finds a way; so, it turns out, does a good standard.
