![Nina Simone: Pastel Blues (Acoustic Sounds Series) [VERVE]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33631844/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-nina-simone-pastel-blues-acoustic-sounds.jpg)
Nina Simone's 1965 blues album Pastel Blues, featuring the epic "Sinnerman" and "Be My Husband." Acoustic Sounds Series audiophile pressing.
Pastel Blues is one of Nina Simone's most powerful albums, and its ten-minute "Sinnerman" is one of the most thrilling recordings of her career.
Nina Simone strips the blues down to its essentials on Pastel Blues, often with just her piano, Rudy Stevenson's guitar and spare rhythm accompaniment, letting her commanding voice and phrasing take centre stage.
"Be My Husband" is sung over little more than hand claps and foot stomps, "Trouble in Mind" and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" are deeply felt, and "Sinnerman" is a breathtaking, ten-minute gospel-jazz tour de force. The Acoustic Sounds Series brings it to vinyl at its very best.
