Jeff Buckley's You and I, intimate 1993 studio recordings from his earliest Columbia sessions: "Everyday People," "Calling You" and an early "Grace."
You and I is a rare window into Jeff Buckley finding his voice, mostly covers sung with breathtaking range and feeling, recorded before Grace.
Recorded in 1993 soon after he signed to Columbia, these sessions find Buckley alone with his guitar, exploring the songs that shaped him across soul, folk, blues and rock, plus two of his own.
His Sly and the Family Stone cover "Everyday People" glows, "Calling You" is spellbinding, The Smiths' "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" and "I Know It's Over" are aching, and "Grace" and "Dream of You and I" hint at what was to come.
A rare window into Jeff Buckley finding his voice. Intimate, and very welcome.
