About the album

The Late Night Tales series asks artists for the records they actually play when the party's winding down, and Groove Armada's Andy Cato and Tom Findlay answered with a selection that jumps happily across decades and genres. It's a mix that trusts you to follow it from Sheffield synth-pop to Ibiza sunsets without a single awkward gear change.

The League Unlimited Orchestra's instrumental "The Things That Dreams Are Made Of" opens, followed by Roxy Music's "Love Is the Drug," Kitty Grant and Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence." Joakim remixes Max Berlin's "Elle et Moi," Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve reworks Midlake's "Roscoe," and Cato edits Will Young's "Friday's Child." Ace's "How Long," Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Peter Bjorn and John and The Cure's "Close to Me" all turn up, and a French edit of Chris Rea's "Josephine," a Balearic favourite Findlay ties to Ibiza, steals the show.

Then the duo cover Gary Numan, Finley Quaye winds things down, and Will Self reads "Happy Detective Pt.1" to see you off to bed. Precious few DJ mixes end with a bedtime story, and frankly more of them should.
