25th anniversary 2LP of Portishead's legendary 1997 Roseland Ballroom show with a full orchestra, remastered and expanded on red vinyl: "Glory Box," "Sour Times" and "Roads."
Roseland NYC Live captures Portishead with a full orchestra at New York's Roseland Ballroom, and it's widely considered one of the great live albums of the 1990s. This 25th anniversary edition is remastered, expanded to 14 songs and pressed on red vinyl.
Portishead didn't tour much, and they almost never played the same way twice, so this one-off New York show in July 1997 has an almost mythical reputation. Beth Gibbons, Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley brought a full orchestra and horn section to the Roseland Ballroom and turned their moody, sample-built trip-hop into something huge, live and breathtaking.
"Sour Times," "Roads," "Glory Box" and "Only You" sound even more cinematic here than on the studio albums, and Gibbons' voice is devastating from start to finish. The original album has been out of print on vinyl for years; this anniversary edition is remastered, adds extra songs from the show and spreads it all over two red LPs.
