About the album

"We recorded it all in a burning motorboat," the band said of this one, which is about as close as Godspeed You! Black Emperor get to a press statement. Made in Montreal amid the joyful mess of raising dogs and children, Luciferian Towers is the band's sixth album and one of their most uplifting.

It's four pieces long and every one of them soars. "Undoing a Luciferian Towers" opens in a slow, swelling haze, "Bosses Hang" builds to a glorious, ringing climax, "Fam/Famine" glows and broods, and the three-part "Anthem for No State" rises from a lone guitar to a full-throated roar of strings and drums.

Turn it up, close your eyes, and let the towers do the rest.
