![Godspeed You! Black Emperor: Yanqui U.X.O. (2LP) [CONSTELLATION]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/75612121/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-godspeed-you-black-emperor-yanqui-uxo-2l.jpg)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor's raw, powerful 2002 album Yanqui U.X.O. on 2LP, recorded by Steve Albini in Chicago: "09-15-00" and "Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls."
Yanqui U.X.O. captures the Montreal collective at their most direct and heavy, long instrumental pieces that build from fragile beauty to crushing intensity.
Recorded at Electrical Audio by Steve Albini, the album strips away the field recordings of earlier records for a live, raw sound of guitars, strings and drums swelling into huge, cathartic crescendos.
"09-15-00" unfolds into a towering, emotional epic, "Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls" moves from mournful strings to a thunderous climax, and "Motherf***er=Redeemer" is a vast, slow-burning finale.
Explosive, in a very controlled way.
