Fuel's 2000 second album Something Like Human, with "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)," "Bad Day" and "Innocent."
This Wargod Collective pressing puts Fuel's biggest album on vinyl. Something Like Human went double platinum in the US and gold in Canada, and "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" is still the band's highest-charting song.
Some songs are built for car stereos with the windows down, and Carl Bell wrote a whole album of them. Fuel's second record arrived on Epic in September 2000, with Bell writing the songs and playing guitar and Brett Scallions singing them in that big, raw voice that critics singled out for praise. The title comes from a lyric in "Prove," and every track on it carries Bell's name as writer.
"Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" led the way, reaching No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helping the album to No. 17 on the Billboard 200. "Bad Day" and "Innocent" kept the band on rock radio, and "Empty Spaces" found a second life in the 2002 film A Walk to Remember and its soundtrack. "Last Time" opens hard, and "Down," "Solace" and "Slow" show the band's moodier side.
It sold 60,458 copies in its first week, then nearly 200,000 more in December 2000 alone. In 2001 it moved another 1,180,000 copies in the US, which is a great many windows rolled down.
