Fall Out Boy's 2015 No. 1 album American Beauty/American Psycho, with "Centuries," "Irresistible," "Uma Thurman" and "Immortals."
This limited US pressing puts the band's sixth album on vinyl. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 218,000 units in its first week, and "Centuries" went eight times platinum.
Fall Out Boy didn't wait for the comeback tour to finish before starting the next album. They wrote it on the road with Paramore in the summer of 2014, laptop demos and all, and producer Jake Sinclair convinced them that parts recorded on the tour bus could make the final cut.
Pete Wentz wanted rock that belonged on the radio and in arenas, and Patrick Stump wanted every track to sound like it came from the same record. They got both. "Centuries" stomps like a stadium chant, "Irresistible" swaggers on a brass hook, "Uma Thurman" borrows the surf twang of The Munsters theme, and "Immortals" turned up in Disney's Big Hero 6. "Jet Pack Blues" and "Novocaine" round out a genre-hopping set built on pop punk with a lot more gloss.
The band toured it for the better part of two years, with Wiz Khalifa as co-headliner on one leg, and put out a remix album with a different rapper on every track. Wentz said rock shouldn't be left in a quiet corner of a guitar shop for dads to find; speaking as a shop full of dads, we'll take that on the chin.
