The Eagles' 1994 reunion album Hell Freezes Over as a 2LP set, with the acoustic "Hotel California," "Love Will Keep Us Alive" and "Get Over It."
This 25th anniversary 2LP set is remastered on 180g vinyl. Hell Freezes Over went to No. 1 on the Billboard album chart for two weeks and has sold more than nine million copies in the US.
Asked in 1980 when the Eagles would play together again, Don Henley gave the now famous answer: when Hell freezes over. It took fourteen years and a tribute album. When Travis Tritt asked the band to appear in his video for "Take It Easy," the old friends were in a room together for the first time in years, and a couple of months later Glenn Frey and Henley decided to reunite.
The Long Run lineup of Frey, Henley, Don Felder, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit played an MTV special at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank in April 1994, and eleven songs from it fill most of this set. The new arrangement of "Hotel California," with its long acoustic guitar and percussion opening, is the headline. Four new studio tracks lead the way, some of them recorded at Sounds Interchange in Toronto: "Get Over It," "Love Will Keep Us Alive," which topped the Adult Contemporary chart, "The Girl from Yesterday" and "Learn to Be Still."
The tour that followed ran from 1994 to 1996 and became one of the most successful in music history. Frey told the crowd that night they had never broken up, just taken a fourteen-year vacation, which remains the gold standard for coming back from holiday.
