About the album

With Joe Walsh newly on board, the Eagles toughened up their country-rock sound and turned their gaze on the excesses of 1970s Los Angeles. Produced by Bill Szymczyk at Criteria and the Record Plant, Hotel California is a dark, glossy, cinematic record about fame, decadence and the end of the dream, with the Beverly Hills Hotel on the cover.

The title track, with its mysterious lyrics and Don Felder and Joe Walsh's legendary dual-guitar outro, is one of the most famous songs ever recorded. "New Kid in Town" is a gentle No. 1, "Life in the Fast Lane" rocks hard, and "Wasted Time" and "The Last Resort" are sweeping and sad. It topped the charts and has sold tens of millions of copies.
