About the album

Horror films and heavy music have always got on famously, and in 1995 Tales from the Crypt made it official. Demon Knight was the first feature-length film to carry the show's name, with the Cryptkeeper himself introducing it. Ernest Dickerson's horror comedy Demon Knight, starring Billy Zane, William Sadler and Jada Pinkett, came with an Atlantic soundtrack stacked with the decade's heaviest names, and it reached No. 157 on the Billboard 200.

Pantera trimmed "Cemetery Gates" into a Demon Knight edit, Ministry bring "Tonight We Murder," Machine Head deliver "My Misery" and Megadeth turn in "Diadems." The Melvins' "Instant Larry," Rollins Band's "Fall Guy," Biohazard's "Beaten" and Sepultura's "Policia," over in under two minutes, keep the pressure up, and Gravediggaz close it out as the album's one hip hop act.

It's a neat snapshot of where heavy music stood in the mid 90s, from groove metal to industrial, and Real Gone Music has brought it back just in time for spooky season. The Cryptkeeper would surely approve, though in all his years on the box he never once paid for a record.
