Circa Survive's 2010 third album Blue Sky Noise, remastered and reissued by Hopeless Records on coloured vinyl, with "Get Out," "Imaginary Enemy" and "I Felt Free."
This Hopeless Records reissue remasters Blue Sky Noise and presses it on coloured vinyl. It's the album where the Philadelphia-area band moved from post-hardcore toward a more refined, indie-flavoured sound, with Rich Costey mixing and Howie Weinberg mastering the original.
Circa Survive had spent two albums on Equal Vision perfecting a swirl of post-hardcore and prog, so for album three they changed labels, changed producers and rented a place in Pennsylvania to write. The new songs took shape on the road, with "Frozen Creek" turning up in a fan video from a California tour before anyone knew what the album would be called.
Anthony Green's high, searching voice still leads the way, but the guitars ring brighter and the songs breathe more. "Strange Terrain" opens wide, "Get Out" was the first taste, "Imaginary Enemy" went to radio with its own video, and "I Felt Free" followed. "Glass Arrows," "Spirit of the Stairwell" and "Dyed in the Wool" show how far the band had stretched. As with their first two albums, Esao Andrews painted the dreamlike cover.
They toured it across the US with Coheed and Cambria and The Dear Hunter, and the songs settled into their live sets for years. The title is a rather good description of the sound, which almost never happens in rock.
