Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas made Hit Me Hard and Soft the old-fashioned way: no singles out ahead of time, no big rollout, just ten songs meant to be heard in order, start to finish. It was a gamble for the biggest young pop star on the planet, and it paid off spectacularly, landing at No. 1 in more than 20 countries and putting every single track in the Hot 100's top 40 at the same time.
