About the album

Bill Evans recorded so much music in the spring of 1962 that it filled two albums. Moon Beams got the ballads; How My Heart Sings! got the tunes with a little more pep in their step, all played with what Evans called a desire for "a singing sound."

It was his first trio with bassist Chuck Israels, and they lock in with Paul Motian beautifully. The title track is a lilting waltz by his friend Earl Zindars, Dave Brubeck's "In Your Own Sweet Way" glides, "Summertime" gets a fresh, airy spin, and Evans' own "Walking Up" and "34 Skidoo" show off his writing.

It's lyrical, warm and quietly brilliant, an essential part of the Evans story, and ready for a Sunday morning with a good coffee.
