Autechre's 1995 third album Tri Repetae as a 2LP set from Warp, with "Clipper," "Rotar" and "Rsdio."
Warp's 2LP repress comes in the olive green sleeve with a download code for the album plus a bonus live set. Tri Repetae is regularly named among the most influential electronic albums ever made.
Some albums change a genre by adding things. Tri Repetae changed it by taking things away. After the warmer melodies of Incunabula and Amber, Sean Booth and Rob Brown stripped their sound back to minimal, repeating rhythms and spacious, intricate melodies, and the result sounded like nothing else on Warp in 1995.
The shift came from Sheffield. Booth had moved next door to the producer and DJ Jez Potter, who introduced the pair to Mat Steel and the experimental artist Mark Fell, and the two had been turning up anonymously on Potter's shows on the pirate station Foulmouth FM. That glitchy, inquisitive spirit runs all through "Dael," the clanking, hypnotic "Clipper," the cold shimmer of "Rotar" and the slow-motion grandeur of "Rsdio." The Designers Republic matched the change with a cover in one solid colour, picked to stand for the meeting of metal and nature, technology and green.
The liner notes say they'd rather you heard it on vinyl, for the surface noise, and the sticker on this pressing promises the record comes complete with it. It's the most honest piece of packaging we've ever put on a shelf.
