Amber is one of the most beloved records in Warp's catalogue, a warm, glowing, gently hypnotic landmark of 90s electronic music.
Sean Booth and Rob Brown's second album, and their first conceived as a complete studio album, Amber trades club energy for slow, intricate rhythms, soft synth pads and melodies that feel both mechanical and deeply emotional.
"Foil" is a pulsing, hypnotic opener, "Montreal" is lush and lovely, "Slip" and "Nine" drift beautifully, and "Further" and "Teartear" are quietly mesmerising.
Best heard at low volume while the light goes orange.
