About the album

Amy Winehouse was a singles artist in the old-fashioned sense: three minutes, one big feeling, and a B-side worth flipping for. Most of these first came out on CD or 12-inch, so seeing them gathered on 7-inch in their own picture sleeves is a bit like finally getting the jukebox she always deserved.

The early Frank singles come first, "Stronger Than Me," "Take The Box," "In My Bed" and "Pumps," all jazzy wit and North London attitude, with B-sides such as "'Round Midnight" along the way. Then Back to Black lands: "Rehab," "You Know I'm No Good," the title song, "Tears Dry On Their Own" and "Love Is A Losing Game," with Mark Ronson's "Valerie" alongside. The Lioness: Hidden Treasures singles close it out, among them "Body And Soul," her duet with Tony Bennett and her last studio recording, and "Our Day Will Come."

She has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, and these are the songs that did the heavy lifting. There's even a Christmas song etched on the last disc, for anyone whose festive playlist could use rather more soul than the office party usually allows.
