AC/DC's 1981 follow-up to Back in Black on 180g vinyl, remastered, with the cannon-firing title song, "Let's Get It Up" and "Evil Walks."
This 180g remaster from the AC/DC Remasters series comes in an embossed gatefold with a printed inner sleeve. It was the band's first No. 1 album in the US, topping the Billboard 200 for three weeks, and it has sold four million copies there.
Following Back in Black is the sort of job nobody volunteers for, but AC/DC got on with it in typically no-fuss style. They reconvened in Paris in the summer of 1981 with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, their third album together, and after trying a proper studio ended up recording in a rehearsal room, H.I.S. Studio, with the Mobile One truck parked outside.
Brian Johnson's second album with the band leans into big, anthemic grandeur. The title song is the showstopper, its stop-start build singled out by Rolling Stone's David Fricke for hooking you "just as hard as their usual railroad drive," and it has closed their concerts with cannon fire ever since. "Let's Get It Up" and the title song both went top 15 in the UK, while "Evil Walks," "Night of the Long Knives" and "Spellbound" show Angus and Malcolm Young at their most menacing, with Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd locked in behind.
Rolling Stone's original 1981 review called it their best album. As the lyrics make clear, "C.O.D." stands for Care Of the Devil, which comes as a relief to anyone waiting in for a parcel.
