About the album

Wham! fitted a remarkable amount of pop into four short years, from 1982 to 1986, and this collection lays the whole run out in order. It arrived in July 2023, two days after the Netflix documentary Wham! got a new generation humming "Freedom" in the queue at the bank.

Side one starts with the cheeky "Wham Rap!" and "Young Guns (Go For It)," then heads for the sunshine of "Club Tropicana" and the neon grin of "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." Side two is the grown-up stretch: "Everything She Wants," "I'm Your Man," "The Edge Of Heaven" and "Where Did Your Heart Go?" The second disc digs into B-sides and mixes, including "Blue (Armed With Love)," "Battlestations" and the extended "Freedom (Long Version)."

Andrew Ridgeley, who executive-produced the set alongside Chris Organ and David Austin, called Wham! 'almost exclusively a joyful and positive period' for both of them, and it shows in every groove. Side four also carries "Last Christmas (Pudding Mix)," the closest any record in the shop has come to listing its own dessert.
