![Weezer: Pinkerton [GEFFEN]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/35286082/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-weezer-pinkerton-geffen.jpg)
Weezer's raw, heartfelt 1996 second album Pinkerton, the cult favourite with "El Scorcho," "The Good Life" and "Across the Sea."
Slow to catch on at first, Pinkerton grew into one of the most beloved albums of the 90s and a cornerstone of emo and power pop.
Rivers Cuomo wrote most of Pinkerton while studying at Harvard, and Weezer produced it themselves to capture their live sound. The result is louder, rawer and more personal than the Blue Album, full of fuzzed-out guitars and open-hearted, confessional lyrics.
"El Scorcho" and "The Good Life" are terrific singles, "Across the Sea" and "Falling for You" are fan favourites, and the acoustic closer "Butterfly" is lovely. The last Weezer album with bassist Matt Sharp, and for many fans their very best.
