![The Velvet Underground: Loaded [COTILLION / RHINO]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33149588/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-the-velvet-underground-loaded-cotillion.jpg)
Velvet Underground's warm, tuneful 1970 album Loaded, full of radio-ready rock 'n' roll: "Sweet Jane," "Rock & Roll," "Who Loves the Sun" and "New Age."
Loaded is the Velvet Underground's most accessible album, and "Sweet Jane" and "Rock & Roll" are two of Lou Reed's most famous songs.
Asked to make an album "loaded with hits," Lou Reed, Doug Yule, Sterling Morrison and Moe Tucker (on maternity leave, with others filling in) delivered their poppiest, most straightforward record, bursting with catchy, upbeat rock 'n' roll and gentle ballads.
"Sweet Jane" has one of the greatest riffs ever written, "Rock & Roll" is a joyful tribute to the power of radio, "Who Loves the Sun" is breezy and sweet, and "New Age" and "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'" are beautiful slow burners.
