![Van Halen: 1984 [WARNER]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33633040/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-van-halen-1984-warner.jpg)
Van Halen's 1984 blockbuster: "Jump," "Panama," "Hot for Teacher" and "I'll Wait."
1984 is certified diamond in the US, and "Jump" became Van Halen's only No. 1 single. Eddie Van Halen's synth riff is one of the most famous in rock history.
Eddie Van Halen built his own studio, 5150, and on the band's sixth album he surprised everybody by leading with a synthesizer. The gamble paid off spectacularly: 1984 became one of the biggest-selling rock albums ever, the last of the classic David Lee Roth era.
"Jump" is a stadium-sized synth anthem, "Panama" is pure hot-rod rock and roll, "Hot for Teacher" opens with one of the greatest drum intros ever and some jaw-dropping guitar, and "I'll Wait" is a sleek, moody hit.
