![Vampire Weekend: Contra [XL RECORDINGS]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33632577/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-vampire-weekend-contra-xl-recordings.jpg)
Contra, Vampire Weekend's bright, bouncy 2010 second album and their first US number one: "Cousins," "Horchata," "Holiday" and "Giving Up the Gun."
Contra debuted at number one in the US, a colourful, adventurous follow-up that blended indie rock with Afropop, ska and electronic touches.
Produced by Rostam Batmanglij, Contra builds on Vampire Weekend's debut with more synths, Auto-Tune flourishes, ska rhythms and global influences, all wrapped around Ezra Koenig's witty, literate lyrics and sunny melodies.
"Horchata" opens with a marimba glow, "Cousins" is a two-minute sprint, "Holiday" and "Giving Up the Gun" are irresistible, and "White Sky" soars with Koenig's falsetto.
