About the album

Trixie Mattel won RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, built a comedy empire with Katya and runs a motel, yet the autoharp has never been far from reach. Her first two albums, Two Birds and One Stone, both charted on the Billboard Folk Albums chart, and Barbara went electro-folk. For album four she plugged in the guitars and went full power pop, spreading fourteen songs across two thematic halves.

The Blonde & Pink Albums is two records in one, and it plays like a jukebox from the late 1970s. "Goner" and "Boyfriend" open with big hooks and sharper riffs, "C'mon Loretta" is a sing-along with a wink, and "Love You In HiFi" keeps the energy high. Side B brings "I Want You To Want Me," and the second disc runs all the way to "Vacation."

It's the sound of an entertainer having the time of her life, and the songs hold their own without the wig and the lashes. Trixie's eye makeup is famously visible from the back row, and so, it turns out, is a good chorus.
