About the album

Few rock songwriters were as consistent as Tom Petty, and this 1993 collection is the perfect proof: 18 songs, from 1976's jangling "American Girl" through his huge solo hits with Jeff Lynne, plus two then-new recordings.

"Refugee," "The Waiting" and "Here Comes My Girl" are heartland rock at its best, "Free Fallin'," "I Won't Back Down" and "Runnin' Down a Dream" are radio staples, and "Mary Jane's Last Dance" became one of his most loved songs. A must for every collection.
