![The Mountain Goats: Tallahassee [4AD]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/39442723/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-the-mountain-goats-tallahassee-4ad.jpg)
Tallahassee, the Mountain Goats' 2002 cult favourite and first album on 4AD: "No Children," "Tallahassee," "See America Right" and "Game Shows Touch Our Lives."
Tallahassee is John Darnielle's most beloved album, a song cycle whose singalong "No Children" has become one of the great cathartic crowd anthems in indie rock.
John Darnielle moved from lo-fi boombox recordings to a proper studio for his first 4AD album, a richly written concept record about a couple living in a rundown house in Tallahassee, Florida. Peter Hughes' bass and full arrangements give the songs new warmth.
"No Children" is a darkly funny, wildly cathartic singalong that fans shout at every show, the title track is gentle and tender, "See America Right" rocks, and "Game Shows Touch Our Lives" is a fan favourite. Literate, witty and full of heart.
