Platinum 1993 alt-rock classic from the Breeders, Last Splash: "Cannonball," "Divine Hammer," "Saints" and "No Aloha."
Last Splash went platinum and "Cannonball" became one of the defining songs of the alt-rock era. Kim Deal stepped out from the Pixies and made a classic.
Kim Deal started the Breeders as a side project from the Pixies, and with her twin sister Kelley on guitar it became her main gig. Last Splash is scrappy, playful and full of hooks, mixing surf, punk, country and noise-pop with Kim's laid-back, sweetly sly vocals.
"Cannonball" with its echoing intro and unstoppable bass line is iconic, "Divine Hammer" and "Saints" are just as catchy, "No Aloha" is dreamy, and "Drivin' on 9" is a country-tinged treat. Pure '90s magic.
