About the album

Tears for Fears' debut, The Hurting, was a dark, introspective synth-pop record, but on Songs from the Big Chair Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith went widescreen. With bigger guitars, glossier production and songs about politics, power and fear, they made one of the defining albums of the '80s.

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is a perfect pop song that never gets old, "Shout" is a stadium-sized protest anthem, "Head over Heels" is wistful and gorgeous, and "Mothers Talk" and "The Working Hour" show off their ambitious side. It went to No. 1 in the US and multi-platinum around the world. This 40th anniversary edition is on coke bottle clear vinyl.
