About the album

Twenty years on, Ludovic Navarre decided Tourist could use a holiday of its own. The Paris producer behind St Germain marked the anniversary of his famous jazz-house album by sending its best-known songs off on a series of trips, which is roughly what the title promises. The record came out on the Primary Society label.

"Rose Rouge" gets the most passport stamps, turning up as the Galaxy Aart Remix, the Nu Maloya Fusion Mix, an Oldskool 90s Remix, a Jazzfunksuite version and a Rerub. "Sure Thing" heads into a Yoruba Soul Mix and an Anniversary Mix, "So Flute" comes back as a 2020 version, and "What You Think About" is re-jammed. The new mixes stretch from deep house to amapiano grooves, keeping the warm horns, flutes and blues licks that made the originals so easy to love.

It's a lovely companion for anyone who wore out their copy of Tourist at the turn of the millennium, and a great way in for anyone who didn't. Remix albums are often a long weekend at best; this one is more of a gap year.
