About the album

Moving Pictures is the album where Rush figured out how to fit their prog-rock ambitions into tight, radio-ready songs without losing an ounce of their chops. Recorded in 1980 at Le Studio in Morin-Heights, Quebec, with longtime co-producer Terry Brown, it's seven tracks of near-perfection, and side one might be the greatest side of Canadian rock ever pressed.

"Tom Sawyer" is the anthem every air drummer knows by heart, "Red Barchetta" is a sci-fi joyride, "YYZ" (named for the Toronto airport code, and tapping it out in Morse code) is the most famous instrumental in rock, and "Limelight" is Neil Peart's wry take on fame. Side two stretches out with "The Camera Eye" and looks ahead with the reggae-tinged "Vital Signs." This 40th anniversary half-speed pressing on white vinyl sounds as good as it looks.
