![Red Hot Chili Peppers: By the Way (2LP) [WARNER]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/35168691/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-red-hot-chili-peppers-by-the-way-2lp-war.jpg)
2LP of Red Hot Chili Peppers' melodic 2002 album By the Way: "Can't Stop," "The Zephyr Song," "Universally Speaking" and the title track.
On order
By the Way is the Chili Peppers' most melodic album, with John Frusciante's harmonies and guitar front and centre. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and "Can't Stop" is one of their all-time great riffs.
After the huge success of Californication, John Frusciante took the reins on the next record, writing most of the melodies, bass lines and layered backing vocals, inspired by everything from '60s pop and doo-wop to the Beach Boys. Anthony Kiedis matched him with his most reflective lyrics, and Rick Rubin helped them shape a lush, sunny, melodic album.
"Can't Stop" has one of the band's best riffs, "The Zephyr Song" floats on dreamy harmonies, "Universally Speaking" and "Dosed" are gorgeous, and the title track bursts out of the speakers. It's a record that rewards deep listening, and many fans rate it as their favourite.
