About the album

Ten years is a long gap between albums, even for a band that books its stadium tours like military campaigns. Rammstein came back in 2019 without a title (the match on the cover does all the talking) and with a new producer, Olsen Involtini, who is also their live sound engineer, alongside Tom Dalgety and Sky Van Hoff. It was the band's first studio album not produced by Jacob Hellner.

It's classic Neue Deutsche Härte, all thundering riffs and Till Lindemann's huge baritone. "Deutschland" is a sweeping, dramatic epic, "Radio" bounces on a big synth hook, and "Ausländer" is a cheeky Euro-pop stomp. "Zeig Dich" brings in a Latin choir and Spanish-style picking, while "Diamant" shows the softer side and "Weit Weg" drifts toward Tangerine Dream. Christoph Schneider, Richard Kruspe, Paul Landers, Oliver Riedel and Christian "Flake" Lorenz build the wall of sound around him. It's heavy, theatrical and exactly as precise as you'd expect.

In Germany it set the century's record for first-week album sales and earned Diamond certification for 750,000 copies. We'd suggest playing it loud, but frankly we're not sure there's another setting.
