John Williams' Star Wars music played by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra on coloured vinyl, from the Main Title and "The Imperial March" to "Duel of the Fates."
This LP on coloured vinyl gathers eight John Williams themes spanning the Star Wars saga, from the 1977 original to Revenge of the Sith, played with full symphonic scale.
Some film scores you hum; John Williams' Star Wars music you can hum, whistle and march to. This collection gathers the big themes from across the saga, played by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, an orchestra with a long track record in film-music recording.
Side A starts where it all began, with the A New Hope fanfare, the jaunty swing of the "Cantina Band" and the triumphant "Throne Room" finale, then brings in Darth Vader's "The Imperial March" from The Empire Strikes Back. Side B travels on through the saga: the "Forest Battle" from Return of the Jedi, the choral thunder of "Duel of the Fates" from The Phantom Menace, the lush romance of "Across the Stars" from Attack of the Clones and the tragic sweep of "Battle of the Heroes" from Revenge of the Sith. Producer James Fitzpatrick oversaw the sessions, and the orchestra gives every brass fanfare and string swell the room it needs.
It's a tidy single-LP tour of the saga's music, all the great themes without the dialogue or the sound effects. The lightsaber noises remain your own responsibility.
