About the album

Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight named this album after their favourite part of touring, which is coming home from it. Their self-made debut, Summer's Gone, had been stitched together from samples; for In Return they moved up to Counter and Ninja Tune, went looking for voices and wrote with a songwriter's ear, producing, mixing and engineering the whole thing themselves.

Knight's classical training and Mills's production instincts meet all over the record. "Say My Name" is the big, bright one, "Sundara" and "Bloom" shimmer and swell, and "All We Need" picked up extra engineering in Brooklyn. The duo singled out "It's Only" as the moment they grew up, thanks to its less conventional production. The result is more vocally driven than anything they had made before.

It earned a Billboard Music Award nomination for Top Dance/Electronic Album, and an RAC remix of "Say My Name" was up for a Grammy. Microsoft also borrowed an instrumental version for its Windows 10 demo videos, so plenty of people first heard it in an electronics shop; we like to think a few of them have since found their way to a record shop.
