No Doubt's 1995 smash Tragic Kingdom, the ska-pop blockbuster that made Gwen Stefani a star: "Don't Speak," "Just a Girl," "Spiderwebs" and "Sunday Morning." Import.
Tragic Kingdom went on to sell more than 16 million copies worldwide, and "Don't Speak" spent a record-setting 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard airplay chart.
No Doubt's smash third album wasn't an instant hit when it landed unassumingly on record-store shelves in October of 1995. Thanks to a couple of spunky, punky earworms in the form of "Just a Girl" and "Spiderwebs" and their memorable video clips, Tragic Kingdom was well placed to crack wide when the knowingly over-the-top power ballad "Don't Speak" (which topped the Billboard airplay chart for a record-setting 16 straight weeks) took over the entire planet in the spring of 1996.
By December of that year, No Doubt had a No. 1 album on its hands, too, and Tragic Kingdom would go on to move more than 16 million copies worldwide. It also established frontwoman Gwen Stefani as a bona fide pop-culture and fashion icon. A pretty fun time to be a pop fan.
