Neil Young Archives series edition of Neil Young's gentle 1992 return to the Harvest sound: "Harvest Moon," "Unknown Legend," "From Hank to Hendrix" and "War of Man."
On order
Harvest Moon reunited Neil Young with many of the musicians from Harvest, 20 years on, and the title track became one of his most loved songs. A warm, acoustic record for slow evenings.
After the earsplitting Ragged Glory tour with Crazy Horse left him with tinnitus, Neil Young put down the electric guitar and picked up his acoustic, piano and banjo. He gathered up many of the players from 1972's Harvest (the Stray Gators, plus Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor on harmonies) and made a quiet, glowing record about long love, ageing and home.
The title track, written for his wife Pegi, is one of the most romantic songs he ever wrote, "Unknown Legend" rolls along like a highway at sunset, "From Hank to Hendrix" looks back over a life in music, and the ten-minute "Natural Beauty" closes things beautifully. A Canadian classic for the record shelf.
