About the album

Every punk scene has its starter record, and for the Misfits it's this one. Officially titled Misfits but known to everyone as Collection (or Collection I), it first appeared in 1986 on Plan 9, Glenn Danzig's own label, with Caroline, and arrived on vinyl in 1988.

All twenty songs are Danzig originals, sung in that rich, Elvis-in-a-graveyard croon over buzzsaw guitars. "Where Eagles Dare," "Horror Business" and "Night of the Living Dead" show the B-movie obsession, "Skulls" and "Astro Zombies" are pure singalong, "Hollywood Babylon" and "Bullet" bring the early fury, and "Die, Die My Darling" later found a second life when Metallica covered it. Several tracks appear in remixed or alternate versions, so even longtime fans get something fresh.

It was followed by Collection II in 1995, and generations of skate kids have bought this one with their own money as their first Misfits record. The famous Crimson Ghost logo has since appeared on more T-shirts than we can count, and we did try.
