Title Fight's 2011 debut, the Pennsylvania band's raw, melodic punk record and a touchstone for the 2010s emo and post-hardcore scene.
Shed debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and scored an 81 on Metacritic. "Shed", "27" and "Crescent-Shaped Depression" made Title Fight one of the most influential punk bands of their decade.
Title Fight came out of Kingston, Pennsylvania, a bunch of friends who started playing together as kids and spent their teens grinding through basements and VFW halls. By the time they made Shed, their first proper album, they had, as bassist Ned Russin put it, "dropped out of school, seen the world and had life experiences," and you can hear every mile of it.
It's a raw, melodic, heart-on-sleeve punk record, hardcore-tough but full of hooks, with Russin and guitarist Jamie Rhoden trading anxious, yelping vocals over guitars that crash and chime at the same time. Those melodies would drift toward shoegaze on the records that followed, but Shed is where the legend starts, and a whole wave of 2010s emo and post-hardcore bands learned from it.
