About the album

Cyrus has called Bangerz her real debut, and you can see why. Newly signed to RCA in 2013, she started over with a fresh team, headed for Atlanta and told everyone she wanted a cross between dirty south hip-hop and country, a hybrid nobody else in pop was attempting at the time. She also cited the Motown sound as an influence, and said the album cost a couple million dollars to make.

Executive producer Mike WiLL Made It sets the tone with the slow-rolling "We Can't Stop," while "Wrecking Ball" is a huge, aching ballad that gave Cyrus her first US No. 1 single. "Adore You" opens things softly, Britney Spears turns up on "SMS (Bangerz)," Nelly joins "4x4," and Pharrell Williams and Mac Miller both had a hand in the sessions. Future, French Montana, Big Sean and Ludacris drop by as well.

Mike WiLL says the title came easily once he realised the whole album was bangers. Ten years on, the name still counts as accurate labelling.
