Mad Season's 1995 grunge supergroup album Above in an expanded edition with bonus tracks: "River of Deceit," "Wake Up" and "I'm Above."
Mad Season brought together Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees for one gold-certified, much-loved album.
Formed in Seattle in 1994 by Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready with bassist John Baker Saunders, drummer Barrett Martin and singer Layne Staley, Mad Season made a moody, bluesy, jam-flavoured record that shows a different side of every member. Staley also painted the cover art.
"River of Deceit" is a gorgeous, slow-building single, "Wake Up" and "Long Gone Day" (with Mark Lanegan) are atmospheric highlights, and "I'm Above" rocks hard. This edition adds bonus songs completed with Lanegan's vocals.
