About the album

Some albums announce a new chapter with a press conference. Mac Miller went with an alarm-clock app that played snippets of new songs, a free Homecoming Weekend of events in his native Pittsburgh, and a Breakfast Special edition packed in a cereal box, complete with cereal and a bowl.

GO:OD AM was his first album for Warner and his own REMember Music, and it shows him rapping, singing and producing with real confidence. "100 Grandkids" swaggers, "Weekend" with Miguel glides along, "Break the Law" and "Clubhouse" came out ahead of the album, and guests Ab-Soul, Chief Keef, Lil B and Little Dragon all leave their mark, with Nagano singing on "The Festival." AllMusic called it his strongest album to date, and Billboard called it his best. He took it around the world on tour, starting with a hometown show in Pittsburgh.

Its reputation has grown every year since, a warm and honest record from an artist who never stopped evolving. The cereal-box edition was the bigger talking point at the time, though we'd gently point out this one is far easier to file.
