Mac Miller's 2016 album The Divine Feminine as a 10th anniversary 3LP set on milky clear & ruby vinyl, an indie store exclusive with three unheard tracks from the original sessions.
This 10th anniversary edition adds a single-sided etched ruby LP of three previously unheard songs, "Grand," "Channel 13" and "Butterflies," to the milky clear album discs. The Divine Feminine debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and Rolling Stone later ranked it among the 200 greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
Mac Miller started out planning a short EP about love and ended up with a whole album, because, as he explained, a longer record let him be more vulnerable. That's a very Mac Miller reason to make more music. The Divine Feminine came out in September 2016, a warm, jazz-tinged soul record about romance and about what the women in his life had taught him.
The guest list is generous: Anderson .Paak bounces through the lead single "Dang!," CeeLo Green glides over Frank Dukes' production on "We," and Ariana Grande joins him on "My Favorite Part." Kendrick Lamar appears on "God Is Fair, Sexy Nasty," Ty Dolla Sign stops by, and the plush, live-band arrangements owe as much to 70s soul as to hip hop. Pitchfork called it his most intoxicating album yet, and XXL called it timeless.
Complex put it at No. 23 on its best albums of 2016 list, and Miller took it across North America on a 43-date tour. A decade later it still sounds like a man thinking out loud with a band behind him, which we'd argue is the nicest way to spend an evening that doesn't involve a dinner reservation.
