John Mayer's 2001 debut Room for Squares: "Your Body Is a Wonderland," "No Such Thing," "Why Georgia" and "83."
Room for Squares is John Mayer's best-selling album, a Top 10 debut that won him a Grammy for "Your Body Is a Wonderland" and introduced one of the finest guitarist-songwriters of his generation.
John Mayer was a Berklee dropout playing coffee shops in Atlanta when he made the songs that became Room for Squares. Re-recorded with producer John Alagía for Aware and Columbia, the album mixes breezy acoustic pop with flashes of the blues guitar chops that would soon make him a star.
"No Such Thing" is a witty anthem for anyone who didn't fit in at school, "Why Georgia" and "83" are wistful and warm, "Your Body Is a Wonderland" won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and "Neon" shows off his intricate fingerpicking. It peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and launched a long, celebrated career.
