![Japanese Breakfast: Jubilee [DEAD OCEANS]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/35459169/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-japanese-breakfast-jubilee-dead-oceans.jpg)
Japanese Breakfast's joyful, Grammy-nominated 2021 album Jubilee: "Be Sweet," "Paprika," "Kokomo, IN" and "Savage Good Boy."
Jubilee earned Japanese Breakfast two Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist, and topped plenty of year-end lists. Michelle Zauner set out to make an album about joy, and she nailed it.
Fresh off her bestselling memoir Crying in H Mart, Michelle Zauner wanted Japanese Breakfast's third album to be about joy, and Jubilee is bursting with it: horns, strings, '80s synth-pop sparkle and big, warm hooks, all built around Zauner's bright, expressive voice.
"Paprika" opens with a marching-band fanfare, "Be Sweet" is a sleek dance-pop gem, "Kokomo, IN" is a tender ballad, "Savage Good Boy" is a clever satire, and the six-minute "Posing for Cars" builds to one of her best guitar solos.
