2LP clear vinyl edition of Jamiroquai's 1993 acid jazz debut Emergency on Planet Earth: "When You Gonna Learn," "Too Young to Die" and "Blow Your Mind."
On order
Jamiroquai's debut went straight to No. 1 in the UK and launched Jay Kay as the funkiest man in a hat. This edition spreads it across two clear vinyl LPs.
In 1992 a young Jay Kay put out "When You Gonna Learn" on the tiny Acid Jazz label, and it caused such a stir that Sony signed him to an eight-album deal before he'd even finished assembling a band. Emergency on Planet Earth is the result: a wildly confident debut steeped in '70s funk, soul and jazz, with didgeridoo, live horns and Stuart Zender's bubbling bass lines.
Jay Kay was angry about the state of the planet, and songs like "When You Gonna Learn" and the title track wear their environmental politics proudly, but you'll be too busy dancing to notice. "Too Young to Die" became a Top 10 hit, "Blow Your Mind" stretches out into a long, cosmic groove, and the whole thing topped the UK chart and sold over a million copies.
