Jamiroquai's 2005 album Dynamite as a 2LP set: "Feels Just Like It Should," "Seven Days in Sunny June" and "(Don't) Give Hate a Chance."
This 2022 reissue spreads Dynamite across a 2LP set pressed in the EU. "Feels Just Like It Should" hit the UK top ten and No. 1 on the US dance chart, and the album reached No. 3 in the UK.
When "Canned Heat" soundtracked the big dance scene in Napoleon Dynamite, a whole new crowd discovered Jay Kay's moves, and Jamiroquai's next album arrived with a title that didn't need explaining. Dynamite was the first record with keyboardist Matt Johnson, and much of it was cut at Kay's own Chillington Studios with producer Mike Spencer.
"Feels Just Like It Should" struts in on a fuzzed-up groove, the breezy "Seven Days in Sunny June" turned up in The Devil Wears Prada, and "(Don't) Give Hate a Chance" got the band's first animated video. "Electric Mistress" and "Starchild" keep the disco lights on, "Talullah" slows things right down with strings, and "Hot Tequila Brown" and "Black Devil Car" bring the funk. Rob Harris's guitar and Matt Johnson's keyboards carry much of the groove, with Derrick McKenzie keeping time.
Vibe said the space cowboys were back sounding as funky as ever. Jay Kay is also famously fond of fast cars, so a track called "Black Devil Car" was, frankly, overdue.
