Iron Maiden's raw 1980 debut album, the record that kicked off a heavy metal empire: "Running Free," "Phantom of the Opera," "Prowler" and "Iron Maiden."
Iron Maiden's debut introduced the world to their galloping riffs, twin guitars and punk-fuelled energy, and it remains a cornerstone of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Recorded at Kingsway Studios in London in January 1980, largely produced by the band themselves in just thirteen days, the debut captures Steve Harris, Paul Di'Anno, Dave Murray, Dennis Stratton and Clive Burr at their rawest and hungriest.
"Running Free" is a punky, singalong anthem, "Phantom of the Opera" is a seven-minute epic, "Prowler" opens at full speed, and the title track is a pure, galloping classic. This edition uses the 2015 remaster.
The debut that introduced the galloping riffs and twin guitars. Running free since 1980.
