About the album

Leave it to Tobias Forge to write a stadium-sized rock record about the collapse of empires and make it this much fun. He'd been sitting on the idea since 2013, after reading a book on how empires are built and why they fall, and Impera is the gloriously over-the-top result.

Klas Åhlund, who produced Meliora, is back behind the desk, and pop craftsmen Salem Al Fakir, Vincent Pontare and Peter Svensson of the Cardigans help sharpen the hooks. "Call Me Little Sunshine" is all gothic swagger, "Hunter's Moon" closed out the film Halloween Kills, "Spillways" is pure eighties arena gold, and "Twenties" is gleefully bonkers.

Critics loved it, fans packed arenas to hear it, and it showed just how far Ghost had come from cult favourites.
