George Harrison's 1969 experimental Moog album Electronic Sound, remastered from the original analogue stereo master tapes.
This Dark Horse edition is remastered for vinyl from the original analogue stereo masters and keeps the Zapple logo on its printed inner sleeve. It was one of the first electronic albums made by a rock musician.
In 1969 the Moog synthesizer was mostly the preserve of specialists in lab coats, so a Beatle making a whole album on one was a bold move. George Harrison started in Los Angeles in November 1968, while producing sessions for Apple artist Jackie Lomax, and finished at home in Surrey once his own Moog 3-series system arrived in February 1969.
There are two long pieces, one per side. "Under the Mersey Wall" is the home recording, a slowly shifting study in tones and textures, and "No Time or Space" is built from an edit of a Moog demonstration he captured in Los Angeles with Bernie Krause. It came out in May 1969 as the second and last LP on Zapple, the Beatles' short-lived avant-garde imprint at Apple.
Harrison then brought the Moog to the Beatles, and it turns up for the first time on Abbey Road that same year. He painted the cover himself too, so sleeve to synthesizer it's a one-man show from the chap usually called the quiet one.
